How Serious Is This Problem In The US
Various studies have been made and it is estimated that about 10% of the US population is addicted to varying degrees to a number of chemical substances including alcohol, opiates, hallucinogens, marijuana and perscription drugs. For each addicted person, there are on average four other people including family members, friends and co-workers who "enable" the addicted person in their disease. The result is that around 50% of the population is being impacted by addiction.
